We propose a National Energy Transition Plan that will mobilise, both public and private investment in energy efficiency and green energy up to 1.5% of the GDP per year for a 20-year-period. Our aim is to transform the current productive, housing and transport models in order to move towards a low-carbon economy characterised by the use of renewable energy.
The implementation of this plan will allow a decrease of 30% in the national primary energy consumption. Additionally, by the end of the Plan’s implementation, the remaining consumption will be covered by renewable energy.
The National Energy Transition Plan we are proposing will both reduce energy dependence and CO2 emissions; and will also have a strong impact on employment in sectors suffering unemployment associated with the end of the real estate bubble and in highly-skilled technical professional sectors.
In the first year of the Plan’s implementation 300,000 stable and decent jobs will be created. This figure will rise up to 400,000 in the final phase of the plan.
Podemos´ National Energy Transition Plan is based on two pillars:
- National Energy Saving Plan: aimed at promoting the improvement of energy efficiency in buildings, but also in transportation, industry and power distribution systems.
- National Renewable Energy Plan: focused on the expansion and installation of clean renewable energy.
